Glenn Beck Finally Gets Around To Denouncing Bruce Springsteen

You wouldn't think this was possible, but Glenn Beck had apparently never actually sat down and listened to Bruce Springsteen's "Born In The USA," never heard the lyrics, never formed a familiarity with the song's storied history in American politics, until this week, I guess? Anyway, now that he's heard that the song isn't some glorious tongue-bath to American exceptionalism, he's denouncing it on the radio. Per Lindsay Beyerstein:

Twenty-six years after the release of Bruce Springsteen's hit song, "Born in The USA," conservative talk show host/performance artist Glenn Beck finally got around to listening to the lyrics.

Beck was shocked, shocked to discover that for all these years he'd been rocking out to a song about a bitter down-and-out Vietnam vet who has been kicked to the curb by the aforementioned USA.

Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello close out 'Spectacle' series with a nearly 5-hour bang

Elvis Costello's "Spectacle" series plays what will very likely be its final notes Wednesday, and it goes out with a roar: the second part of Costello's interview/jam session with Bruce Springsteen.
"This is probably the last time I'll do this," Costello said the night they taped the show at the Apollo Theater. "So I'm going to have the time of my life."

To say Costello looked like he was running on empty that night would be inaccurate.
To say he looked like he was running on adrenalin would not.

Fortunately, adrenalin is strong stuff, and he sailed right through a session that was scheduled for about two and a half hours and ran almost twice that.

As anyone who has ever attended a Bruce Springsteen concert knows, Bruce's brand of adrenalin tends to keep him rocking almost indefinitely.

The Springsteen evening yielded enough material for two parts, which show a comfortable Springsteen talking about his career, his music and the art of music.

Bruce Springsteen might write autobiography

There's a rumor flying around that Bruce Springsteen might write an autobiography, and it could fetch a pretty penny.

Bruce Springsteen is said to be quietly working on his autobiography. Publishing insiders are already panting for the book -- even though there is no manuscript yet."It could be the biggest rock music autobiography of all time," said one insider at a major publisher, who did not want to be named. "He could get $9 million to $10 million for the world rights."

At Rock Hall Gig After Cousin's Death Bruce Spribgsteen's to perform

Bruce Springsteen will perform as scheduled Thursday night at past of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concerts. Springsteen's set at the first of two gigs at New York's Madison Square Garden was up in the air following the unexpected death of his cousin and E Street Band assistant road manager Lenny Sullivan. Fans feared that Bruce would cancel Thursday's appearance after he scrapped his Monday concert in Kansas City just two hours before stage time so that he and the members of the E Street Band could mourn the loss of Sullivan. Organizers confirmed yesterday that Springsteen will in fact play alongside Sam Moore, Stevie Wonder, Simon and Garfunkel, and Crosby, Stills and Nash and friends. The concerts have already had one major star pull out, as Eric Clapton announced that he would miss Friday's show to have gallstones removed. His replacement, the Jeff Beck Band, was announced Tuesday.
